Running a mock oral argument In Chambers
In Chambers puts you before a judge persona built from a real judge's own judgments. You argue by typing or speaking, and are scored on authority, responsiveness, precision and decorum.
In Chambers is a live, typed (or spoken) mock hearing. You appear before a simulated judge and argue your matter, and the bench pushes back.
Starting a hearing
- 1Open In Chambers from the sidebar and choose your jurisdiction.
- 2Search for the judge you want to appear before, by surname. Pick a judge who has authored judgments — the persona is built from them.
- 3Optionally set the scene by describing the matter and the relief sought.
- 4Select Rise and address the court to begin.
During the hearing
- Address the court by typing, or dictate with the microphone; you can also have the bench read its questions aloud.
- Two meters track your progress: your score out of 100, and the bench's patience.
- You are scored on authority, responsiveness, precision and decorum. Weak or evasive submissions cost you patience.
- Close your case when you are ready, and the bench delivers a verdict — the matter is either entertained on the merits or struck from the roll.
In Chambers is practice, not prediction. It is a way to rehearse and to feel a demanding bench — not a forecast of any real outcome.
