Using the Deadline Calculator
Enter a trigger date and a number of days, pick a reckoning method, and Molao computes the deadline against the correct public-holiday calendar.
The Deadline Calculator does the reckoning that AI routinely gets wrong: it counts against the real public-holiday calendar and the correct rule, deterministically.
Running a calculation
- 1Open the Deadline Calculator and set the jurisdiction to South Africa or Botswana.
- 2Enter the trigger or start date.
- 3Enter the number of days.
- 4Choose the reckoning method (see below).
- 5Select Calculate deadline.
The three methods
- Court days — the Uniform Rules approach: excludes Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- Calendar days (Interpretation Act) — section 4 of the Interpretation Act 33 of 1957.
- Plain calendar days — no adjustment for weekends or holidays.
The result shows the deadline, the rule applied, the court days in the span, and any public holidays that fell in the period. Where the nominal last day fell on a Sunday or public holiday and the rule extends it, Molao tells you.
